Having worked since 1990 as the publisher and editor of NIKE NEW ART IN EUROPE (founded in 1984), including NIKE SPECIAL SCULPTURE, NIKE EUROPEAN PHOTOGRAPH, NIKE ART SPONSORING; NIKE WORK MONOGRAPH, NIKE INTERNATIONAL NUDE PHOTOGRAPH and NIKE SPECIAL ACT, see STANFORD UNIVERSITY, USA, department of history of art, NEW ART MAGAZINES, GERHARD GÖTZE decided in 1995 to open KAIROS NEW ART GALLERY at Leopoldstr. 62, 80802 MUNICH.

Background for this venture is the fact that in 1979 GERHARD GÖTZE assumed the responsibility of a TESTAMENTARY TRUSTEE and sole representative for ESTATES OF CENTURY ART.

Amongst other projects, he initiated and organized the first German one-man exhibition at the EDVARD-MUNCH-MUSEUM in Oslo in 1981, followed by an itinerant art exhibition at 22 museums throughout North and South America which lasted three years and encompassed art works from estates.

Since 1982 GERHARD GÖTZE has been actively engaged in the production and direction of DOCUMENTARY FILMS on pictorial art and 20th century music, including MICHEL SEUPHORS "HOMMAGE À ARP, BAUMEISTER, BRANCUSI, MONDRIAN, SCHWITTERS." WOLS' À LA RECHERCHE DE WOLS", PIERRE BOULEZ' "BEKENNTNIS UND WIRKEN DER FRÜHEN JAHRE" and "WORK IN PROGRESS, "RÉPÉTITION POUR STRUCTURES II".

Being profoundly involved with WOLS for a long time, GERHARD GÖTZE became enthused with the idea of an exhibition requiem. "A LA RECHERCHE DE WOLS" in memory of the founder of Tachiste art, was produced for the GOETHE INSTITUTES in FRANCE, BELGIUM, and ENGLAND, supplemented by an opulent catalogue on the life and oeuvre of WOLS together with words written by GEORGES MATHIEU, PHILIPPE DAUSSET, inter alia, and published by GERHARD GÖTZE in cooperation with the exhibitors.

As from 1985, GERHARD GÖTZE was primarily concerned with publishing, devoting particular interest to contemporary sculpture, iconographically orientated interviews with sculptors such as ANSGAR NIERHOFF, PIT KROKE, REINHARD SCHERER, TONY CRAGG etc. as well as interviews with painters including EMIL SCHUMACHER, BERNHARD SCHULZE and a dialogue with DIEGO GIACOMETTI, brother of ALBERTO GIACOMETTI.
